Cliffs Walk to Punta de Teno

This is my favourite walk on the island. You leave the marina heading north, and within 10 minutes the tourist infrastructure drops away completely.

The route

Follow the coastal track past the Acantilados viewpoint, continuing on the PR-TF-57 path towards Punta de Teno. The path is well-marked but rocky underfoot — proper shoes, not sandals.

At the lighthouse you’ll see all three western Canary Islands on a clear day. The walk back uses the same path; there’s no loop option.

What you need

  • Water: minimum 1.5 litres per person, no water sources on route
  • Start before 9am in summer — the last section has no shade
  • Sun protection is essential; this coast catches full western sun from midday

Difficulty note

Mostly flat to moderate incline. One short rocky descent into a dry barranco. Fine for anyone with reasonable fitness.
