El Rincón del Pescador

Eight tables, no reservations, often queuing by 8pm. El Rincón is run by two brothers who’ve been cooking here since 1997 and show no signs of changing anything, which is exactly right.

The essentials

Order the pulpo a la plancha (grilled octopus), the croquetas de jamón, and a carafe of the house Canarian white. The gambas al ajillo arrive in the clay pot still sizzling.

The bread basket comes automatically and is charged automatically. It’s good bread.

Getting a table

Arrive at 6pm when they open, or after 9:30pm when first-sitting diners are leaving. The middle window (7–9pm) is when you’ll be waiting on the pavement with everyone else.

Note

Card machine appeared in 2024 but reliability is variable. Bring some cash.
